Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the table’s general subject and mention several categories, including staff numbers, gender ratios, turnover and high-income employees. However, the response mainly lists what the table contains rather than summarising its key findings. There is no clear overview of notable patterns, such as the fifth-ranked company having the most staff and highest turnover, or the third-ranked company having the largest high-income share. Some figures are inaccurate or unclear: the gender range is given as “309:70 to 51:49,” and “34% to 2%” does not explain which companies these values refer to. Select a few accurate comparisons and state the main contrasts explicitly to make the summary more complete and relevant.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response follows a basic sequence through the table’s categories, using markers such as “Firstly,” “Further more” and “At the end.” This gives the reader some sense of order. However, the ideas are not grouped into a clear overview and supporting comparisons, and the repeated phrasing “he mentioned” and “he also highlight” makes the progression mechanical. The opening and closing comments repeat that the table concerns the five companies without adding a useful summary. Organise the response into an introduction, an overview of the main patterns, and a paragraph comparing selected figures. Use linking words to show meaningful contrasts rather than simply moving from one row to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing the table, including “staff numbers,” “ratio,” “staff turnover” and “high income bracket,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the description less clear, including “tablet” for “table,” “pie chart,” “compines,” and “trunover.” Phrases such as “the first number … is 34% to 2%” are also imprecise for reporting data. Build a more accurate set of terms for comparisons, such as “ranged from,” “accounted for,” “highest” and “lowest,” and check spelling and collocations. This would help you report the figures more precisely without relying on repeated general wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences use simple structures, and you attempt longer clauses with “that” and “and.” However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “This pie chart give” has subject–verb disagreement, while “In this tablet we see that its divided into five range” has problems with the pronoun, passive construction and plural form. The sentence “the ratio … its strat from” also lacks a clear grammatical structure. Use accurate present-tense reporting forms, such as “The table shows…” and “The figures range from…,” and practise joining comparisons in complete sentences. More reliable sentence patterns would improve clarity and control.
