Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main parts of the task by selecting some key features and making comparisons between 1968 and 2018, such as noting the drop in food spending from 35% to 17% and the rise in leisure expenditure. However, the overview is confused and inaccurate, containing unnatural phrasing like 'in former year the maximal income was spent on food rather than fuel and current'. Furthermore, some data points are misreported or difficult to follow due to expression issues, such as stating that household goods remained stable at approximately 8% when the chart shows 8% in both years for household goods, but confusing other categories. The development of ideas is limited and sometimes unclear, which prevents the response from reaching a higher level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates some overall organisation with paragraphs attempting to separate different categories of spending. However, there is no clear logical progression throughout the text, and the flow is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing sentence structures, such as 'Moving further details' and 'By giving a glance'. Cohesive devices are often inadequate or unnatural, and referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the intended comparisons. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs lacks control, resulting in a mechanical and disjointed progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is very limited and often inappropriate for an Academic task. The student relies heavily on highly unnatural, non-standard phrases such as 'close-knits' instead of families, 'lateral annum' for the later year, 'free time' for leisure, and 'housinghold pleaseant'. There are numerous instances of incorrect word choice, word formation, and unnatural collocations that severely strain the reader and impede communication. Spelling and lexical control remain basic and restricted throughout the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The range of grammatical structures is limited, relying mostly on simple frameworks with frequent failed attempts at complex sentences. There are constant errors in grammar and sentence architecture throughout the text, such as missing articles, incorrect prepositions ('in term of transport system', 'in personal optimistic'), and faulty subject-verb agreements. These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak control over basic and complex grammatical forms alike.
