Student answer (Band 6.5)
Modern transport system and media platfortms have allowed us to know about the lifestyle of people from other countries. Although this trend has made our lives more public, I belive that the advantages outweight the disadvantage because it is benefiting our economy and education system.
Convenient international travel and increasing popularity of mass media has several negative influences. Firstly, our lives has become overwhelmingly exposed. People nowadays are so engaged in mobile phones and social media that they post every other thing about their lives online. Sharing everything online can create privacy issues and offenders can use information available online to commit crimes. Secondly, increasing number of overseas travel and excessive exposure to foreign culture can have an impact in our own lifestyles, particularly younger generations, who are easily influenced by popular trends. As a result, they fail to reflect their own traditional values and social identity.
On the other hand, globalisation is largely beneficial for our education and economy. With the advancements in communication systems, students are now not confined to local institutes or eduational resources. Students nowadays can broaden their horizons by accessing information on various topics from the internet. They can not only get admission into prestigious international educational institutions but also participate into distance learning, sitting at their homes. Another major advantage of increased international communication is that developed countries are investing on various businesses in developing countries. Therefore, it generates employment opportunities and helps in economic development of poorer countries. Moreover, easy international travel encourages tourism in many countries, which again benefits these countries financially.
In conclusion, the ease in oversease travel and increasing use of varioius mass media can affect our privacy and influence our cultural behaviours. However, I belive the advantages overweight these disadvantages because it helps our economy by creating job prospects and promoting tourism and helps the students by allowing them to study abroad and access any educational resource.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the introduction—“the advantages outweigh the disadvantage”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address both sides with relevant points: privacy and cultural influence as disadvantages, and education, investment, employment, and tourism as benefits. The education and economic arguments are extended with explanations, such as access to distance learning and job creation in developing countries. This meets the task well. To strengthen the response further, develop the disadvantages with more precise examples and connect them more directly to international travel and global media; the privacy point, for instance, shifts toward people posting personal information online rather than the development in the prompt itself. Some claims, such as foreign influence weakening traditional values, would also benefit from a specific illustration.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall progression: an introduction states your view, separate body paragraphs present disadvantages and advantages, and the conclusion restates your judgement. Signposting such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “On the other hand,” and “Moreover” helps readers follow the argument, and the ideas within each paragraph are generally grouped logically. To make the cohesion more flexible and less dependent on explicit transitions, use clearer links between claims and their consequences. For example, the move from overseas investment to tourism is understandable, but could be connected more explicitly as separate economic benefits. Also check reference and phrasing in sentences such as “which again benefits these countries financially,” so the referent is unmistakable. Overall, the organisation is clear and progression is maintained.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “privacy issues,” “traditional values,” “distance learning,” “employment opportunities,” and “economic development.” These expressions communicate the main ideas effectively, and some choices show an attempt to discuss the topic in an academic style. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “platfortms,” “eduational,” “oversease,” and “varioius.” There are also awkward collocations such as “investing on various businesses” and “participate into distance learning.” Aim to check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships, rather than relying on direct translations. More precise terms for cultural change and international investment would also help you express your arguments with greater flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex structures, including a concession in the opening (“Although this trend…”) and a relative clause describing younger generations. Many sentences are clear, and errors rarely prevent understanding. Some grammatical inaccuracies remain, however: “mass media has” should agree with the plural subject, “our lives has become” needs plural agreement, and “they can… participate into distance learning” has an incorrect preposition pattern. The sentence beginning “People nowadays are so engaged…” also contains an unnecessary space and would benefit from careful punctuation and editing. To improve, proofread for subject–verb agreement and check verb patterns and prepositions. Greater consistency in producing accurate complex sentences would build on the range already present.
