Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages, though the development is uneven. The advantages are supported with specific examples, such as the avocado farming anecdote, which helps illustrate the point. However, the disadvantages are addressed in a very brief, underdeveloped paragraph. The position is clear, but the depth of analysis is limited, particularly regarding the negative impacts of mass media and travel. To improve, you should provide more balanced development for both sides of the argument, ensuring that the disadvantages receive as much attention and evidence as the advantages.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'So you can...'). There are instances where the transition between sentences feels abrupt, such as the shift from sushi to vending machines. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the logical flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to the main argument. Referencing is generally clear, but the structure within paragraphs could be more sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing (e.g., 'very easy', 'different types of', 'some drawbacks'). There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'lose satisification' instead of 'experience dissatisfaction' or 'lose satisfaction'. While your meaning is always clear, the vocabulary does not demonstrate the flexibility or the use of less common lexical items that would elevate the response. Focusing on more academic collocations and precise terminology would significantly improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the flow. Issues include missing articles ('go to japan', 'went a Thailand trip'), subject-verb agreement errors ('He learn'), and punctuation mistakes, such as unnecessary commas or capitalization errors ('i conclude'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to limit the score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly regarding articles, verb tenses, and sentence boundaries.
