Student answer (Band 6.5)
In the modern world, travelling has a significant impact on the traditions and culture of the countries. Moreover, in this day and age, travelling has become cheaper and easier to explore the world. There has been a considerable debate on the given statement that the ease of international travel and the spread of various kinds of mass media all over the world have made ot more possible than ever for people to know how other people live in other countries.
With advancements in the travel field, it has become easier for tourists to gain exposure to the countries; there are certain advantages, such as people learning the culture and traditions of the people who live in other countries. Moreover, it would help travellers to have the experience of the food and living conditions of the locals. Furthermore, visitors can learn about the behaviour of the native people. In addition, explorers would be able to see the problems that were faced by native people.
On the contrary, travelling to other countries is expensive and not everyone can afford it. While travelling in new countries, many foreigners have faced major problems regarding their safety from locals. A survey conducted by a prestigious newspaper, The British Times, reports that numerous cases have been registered in the police station for disturbing and harassing tourists by locals.
Different people have different notions regarding the statement, but I have sound reasons to advocate that gaining new experiences is a lifetime memory, but the disadvantages cannot be overlooked.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt but lacks depth in its development. While you acknowledge both sides, the arguments are somewhat superficial. For example, you mention that tourists learn about 'behaviour' and 'problems' faced by locals, but you do not explain how mass media or travel specifically facilitates this or why it is a significant advantage. The conclusion is also quite weak; it states that disadvantages cannot be overlooked but fails to provide a clear, final synthesis of your position. To improve, ensure each paragraph contains a clear topic sentence followed by specific, well-explained examples that directly relate to the prompt's focus on the 'ease of travel' and 'mass media'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'On the contrary' to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical. For instance, the second paragraph lists points about culture, food, and behaviour without strong logical transitions between them. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear; in the final paragraph, you refer to 'the statement' without clearly restating your stance on the balance between advantages and disadvantages. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring a smoother flow between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some appropriate phrases such as 'significant impact', 'gain exposure', and 'prestigious newspaper'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a tendency to repeat basic words like 'travelling' and 'people'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to globalisation, cultural exchange, and media influence. For example, instead of 'travelling to other countries is expensive', you could use 'international tourism is often cost-prohibitive'. Avoid repetitive phrasing to demonstrate a more flexible command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies. For example, 'made ot more possible' (typo), 'travelling to other countries is expensive' (could be more naturally phrased), and 'harassing tourists by locals' (awkward passive construction). There are also minor issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. To improve, focus on proofreading for small slips and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex structures, such as conditional sentences or relative clauses, while ensuring they remain error-free. Your current control is sufficient for communication but lacks the precision required for higher bands.
