Student answer (Band 6.0)
Traveling internationally has become easier than ever before and modern technology has transformed communication significantly, making it possible for people to understand other ways of living overseas. Although there are some disadvantages to consider, I believe that the advantages of this development far outweigh the drawbacks, as people benefit from meaningful experiences abroad, while becoming awere of other cultural backgrounds.
One major advantage is that people have greater access to international travel. Airlnes often offer affordable plane tickets, safer aircraft designes and international destinations, allowing people to reach their destination faster than other means of transportation, making mobility easier than ever before. As a result, more people now are better able to visit foreign countries compared with previous generations who often struggle to travel internationally because of financial contraints and high prices of air travel.
Another important benefit is that tecnological advancements have changed how people communicate nowadays. Digital devices, the internet and social media enable people to communicate regardless of geographical distance, which help them easily connect and meet people from other countries. Consequently, individuals build meaningful relationships, while also creating opportunities for cultural exchange. This interactions help them become more open-minded and culturally aware.
However, there are some disadvantages associated with this development. One major concern is that many people may gradually lose connection to their culture, beliefs and cultural identity, as some of them may prefer to adopt other cultures as theirs. Furthermore, the excessive use of technology may create some social problems, such as reduced face-to-face interaction and weacker community bonds. Nevertheless, by embracing one's traditions and using technology responsibly, people can overcome these challenges.
In conclusion, although the improved acces to international travel and technolgy can create some difficulties, I believe that the benefits are generally more significant. Through proper use of modern technological devices and the preservation of cultural identity, people can continue to benefit from these technological progress and enhanced mobility.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant and logically extended, such as the discussion on cultural exchange and the counter-argument regarding cultural identity. However, the development of the 'advantages' section is slightly generic. While the points are clear, they could benefit from more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points while maintaining the established stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the transition between the advantages and disadvantages is handled well using cohesive devices like 'However' and 'Nevertheless'. The use of linking words such as 'consequently', 'furthermore', and 'as a result' is generally effective. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. While the flow is smooth, the range of cohesive devices is somewhat standard; incorporating a wider variety of referencing or substitution could enhance the sophistication of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is sufficient to convey ideas clearly and with some precision. You demonstrate an ability to use topic-specific language such as 'cultural identity', 'geographical distance', and 'technological advancements'. There are some minor spelling errors, such as 'awere', 'Airlnes', 'designes', and 'weacker', which slightly detract from the overall quality. While you attempt to use a range of vocabulary, some word choices are quite common. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring accuracy in spelling to avoid minor slips that interrupt the reader's flow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. You use complex sentences effectively, such as 'Although there are some disadvantages to consider, I believe that...'. While there are some grammatical errors, such as 'This interactions help' (subject-verb agreement) and 'technological progress' (should be plural or uncountable), these do not impede communication. The punctuation is generally accurate. To reach a higher band, aim for a greater variety of complex structures and ensure that subject-verb agreement is consistently maintained throughout the text.
