Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you identify both advantages and disadvantages, the arguments are presented as fragmented lists rather than fully developed paragraphs. For instance, the points regarding global markets and cultural loss are mentioned but lack specific examples or logical expansion to support your position. To improve, you must ensure each main idea is supported by a clear explanation and a concrete example, and you must meet the minimum length to allow for this depth of analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. It begins with a brief introduction, but the body paragraphs are disjointed, consisting mostly of bullet-point-style sentences rather than cohesive prose. There is a lack of logical progression between ideas, and the use of cohesive devices is minimal or absent. For example, the transition between discussing the benefits of mass media and the disadvantages is abrupt. To improve, use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'on the other hand' to connect your sentences and ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed theme.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally functional but limited in range. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'bad', or 'things', and there is some repetition of words like 'people' and 'countries'. While you attempt some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'global connectivity' and 'investments', the overall control is inconsistent. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid informal phrasing. For example, instead of saying 'everything come with their pros and con', use 'every development carries both advantages and drawbacks'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Everything come' instead of 'Everything comes') and missing articles (e.g., 'government ways' instead of 'the government's ways'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, with few attempts at complex sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and punctuation. Additionally, try to vary your sentence structure by using relative clauses or conditional sentences to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
