Student answer (Band 5.0)

The ease of worldwide travel and the spread of different types of mass media universally have made it easier for individuals to gain knowledge on how other people live in various countries. Social media has changed the perspective of people completely and make them observe the world differently. I do agree advantage of this development outweigh the disadvantage.

Several years back when there were no social media in the world people just knew and spent time with the ones they know near themsleves or far relatives but didn't know how other people in other countries lived or spent their time. They were unaware about what culture other people followed or any tradition. For example our great grand father didn't knew there were that many countries with various kinds of people they spent their life in their own neighbourhood. They didn't even know there could be other wounderful places to travel and visit too.

After social media was introduced to the world people start posting their daily lifestyle and variety of palces. They used it to introduce individuals with their culture and tradition across their country. They could find many beautiful place online and travel to the outside world. For example recently my friend who didn't even know anything about paris nor has visited it started say all the amazing things about it after just looking and knowing as if he had gone there personal and come to knew how social media has brightened many peoples life. Media has made people so much familier with the foreign countries and how they live.

To sum it up, i do thing the advantage of this outweigh the disadvantage. So it really positive that people are getting to know about things they don't.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. While you mention the benefit of cultural awareness, the arguments lack depth and specific evidence. For instance, the example of your friend and Paris is anecdotal and does not fully explore the broader societal implications of mass media or international travel. To improve, you should aim to provide more analytical support for your claims, perhaps discussing the impact on global empathy or economic growth, rather than relying on personal anecdotes. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not effectively synthesize the main points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and sometimes inaccurate. For example, the transition 'To sum it up' is used, but the preceding paragraphs lack strong logical links between sentences. There is a reliance on simple conjunctions, and the flow between ideas is occasionally disjointed. To reach a higher band, you should work on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') to create a more natural progression of ideas throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use basic terms like 'good', 'many', and 'things' repeatedly. There are also several spelling errors (e.g., 'thmeselves', 'wounderful', 'familier') and word-choice issues, such as 'make them observe' instead of 'enables them to perceive'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and the presence of spelling mistakes limit the score. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary related to globalization and media would significantly improve your performance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'advantage... outweigh'), tense inconsistencies (e.g., 'didn't knew'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with commas and apostrophes. While you attempt complex sentences, they are often marred by errors, such as 'started say all the amazing things'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense and pluralization.
