Student answer (Band 6.0)
The advancement in digital technology and convenience of international travel made it easier to know about the lives of others people all over the world. Although there is a downside of this globalization as it promotes homogenized cultures and reduce uniqueness of heritage, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
One of the major benefits of this development is that people can access to wide variety of cultures through social media sources or travelling to different nations and experience other countries' cusine, songs, movies, and traditions. For instance, Asian population can learn European cooking recipes from YouTube channels and enjoy foreign countries' taste without travelling abroad. In addition, it has increased opportunities for students to achieve higher education in world-class institutes. In this way, can explore courses, apply for admissions, and appear in interviews online, and can travel overseas, once they are selected.
However, the spread of mass media and ease of international travel have some limitations as well. People get inspired from other societies' cultures and try to follow them, while lost their own heritage. For example, teenagers follow identical trends such as western attires, while the unique traditional dresses have vanished in many countries. Nevertheless, this issue can be addressed by counselling the young generation about their traditions and the importance of being unique.
In conclusion, the current digital age and ease of travelling internationally play an important role in knowing and networking with other nations. Although it also result in loss of cultural uniqueness but that can be overcome by teaching youth about their norms and traditions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, such as cultural exchange and educational opportunities, and the counter-argument regarding cultural homogenization is acknowledged. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat brief. For instance, the point about students applying for education could be expanded with more specific detail on how this fosters global understanding. The conclusion is clear, but the overall development is slightly superficial, which prevents it from reaching the higher bands. To improve, ensure that each supporting example is fully explained to demonstrate its impact on the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the benefits and the drawbacks. Cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'However', and 'Nevertheless' are used to guide the reader through the argument. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. For example, the sentence 'In this way, can explore courses...' lacks a clear subject, which disrupts the flow. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the essay maintains a consistent focus throughout.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally appropriate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some good collocations like 'world-class institutes' and 'digital age'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'access to wide variety' (missing an article) and 'reduce uniqueness' (should be 'reduces'). The range of vocabulary is adequate but lacks the sophistication or precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more varied and precise academic vocabulary and ensure articles and prepositions are used correctly with nouns.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'others people' (should be 'other people'), 'can access to' (incorrect verb pattern), and 'while lost their own heritage' (incorrect verb form). Additionally, there are missing subjects in sentences like 'In this way, can explore courses'. These errors do not impede communication, but they indicate a lack of control over complex structures. Increasing the accuracy of subject-verb agreement and verb forms will help improve the score.
