Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent times, international travel has been made easier especially with the increasing information on the media, people now have access to knowledge on how other people live their lives in their country. In my opinion, I completely agree that the advantages of this development completely outweighs the disadvantages because of the profitable insight and the evolving nature of the society. These points will be explained in the following paragraphs with relevant example followed by a logical conclusion.
To begin with, there are a lot of information about other countries on the internet daily, although some of these news may not be completely accurate, the updates to a large extent provides helpful knowledge and tips that can guide people when visiting those countries. They can be able to navigate to their destinations, purchase food items and even communicate properly with indigenes.
Furthermore, the world is constantly changing. In addition to the knowledge individuals gather, people now spend less time, and efforts in getting to a new destination because of the advent of technological innovations like aeroplanes, vehicles and even compasses. Take for instance, an individual whose family resides in another country, he or she will definitely appreciate aeroplanes more, as they afford him or her the chance to see and bond with loved ones, even when it might be expensive.
In conclusion, mass media has been a major source of information which also enable people to have adequate insight about another country even when they have not been there especially with easy inter-country access. This development is very advantageous due to the changing nature of the society and the knowledge it provides.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt, but the development of ideas is limited. While you state that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, the essay focuses almost exclusively on the advantages (travel tips and family bonding) and fails to discuss the disadvantages at all. To achieve a higher band, you must address both sides of the argument, even if you ultimately conclude that one outweighs the other. The ideas presented are relevant but remain somewhat superficial, lacking the depth of analysis required for a higher score. Ensure that you explicitly discuss the potential downsides, such as cultural erosion or the spread of misinformation, to provide a balanced and fully developed response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'To begin with,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, the connection between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally weak. For example, in the second paragraph, the transition between the reliability of news and the practical tips for travelers could be smoother. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear central theme that is fully supported before moving to the next point.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'technological innovations' and 'inter-country access.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'profitable insight' and 'indigenes' (which is less common in this context than 'locals' or 'residents'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and idiomatic expressions related to globalization and travel. Avoid repeating basic words and aim for more precise synonyms to enhance the academic tone of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For instance, 'there are a lot of information' should be 'there is a lot of information,' and 'they can be able to' is redundant. Additionally, there are minor punctuation and phrasing issues, such as 'In addition to the knowledge individuals gather, people now spend less time, and efforts.' To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and reducing redundant phrasing. Increasing your use of error-free complex sentences will significantly boost your score in this criterion.
