Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt by discussing both advantages and disadvantages, maintaining a clear position that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about 'educational and cultural opportunity' is mentioned but not fully supported with specific examples or logical depth. The introduction is slightly confusing due to grammatical issues, which obscures the initial thesis. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your arguments with more concrete evidence and ensure that the link between your examples and the main topic is more explicit and logically sound.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with,' 'Another important benefit,' and 'In conclusion.' However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'this exposure the misunderstanding,' where the intended meaning is difficult to grasp. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly rather than relying on simple, repetitive structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary range is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'accommodation of other country' (likely meaning 'lifestyle' or 'way of life') and 'directly effects on culture' (should be 'affects'). Spelling errors are frequent, including 'aii,' 'probly,' 'ineract,' 'impertant,' 'aboard,' 'generae,' 'may,' 'ampong,' 'altough,' 'mss,' 'knowlegde,' and 'outwiegh.' These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not fully impede communication. You should focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Many sentences are poorly constructed, such as the opening sentence which lacks a main verb, and 'This exposure the misunderstanding,' which is grammatically incomplete. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and word forms (e.g., 'it offer many jobs' instead of 'it offers'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the high density of errors in basic grammar limits the score. You need to focus on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors like verb endings and articles.
