Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, covering cultural exchange and educational benefits as advantages, and misinformation and environmental impact as disadvantages. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'rules and regulations' is vague and lacks specific, illustrative examples. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more concrete, real-world examples to support your claims and ensure that the link between your arguments and your overall position is more explicitly stated throughout the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'for instant' is used incorrectly instead of 'for instance', and the transition 'however' is sometimes used where a different connector would be more appropriate. Additionally, some sentences are poorly linked, such as the transition between the discussion of mass media and international travel in the second paragraph. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence will significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, but there is a tendency to repeat certain phrases, such as 'different types of' and 'globally'. There are also several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'interconnected with international people' (instead of 'connect with people from other cultures') and 'make our relationship more trustful' (instead of 'build trust'). While your meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision and the reliance on basic vocabulary prevent you from achieving a higher score. Try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and avoid repeating the same descriptors throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'this trends has'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors (e.g., 'like; mass media'). Some sentences are run-on or fragmented, such as 'over tourism is also the drawbacks which may leads to hamper our environment'. While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of these errors is high. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and articles, before attempting more complex structures.
