Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 192 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the essay is incomplete and ends abruptly mid-sentence. While you have identified a clear position and provided some relevant arguments regarding cultural exchange and economic growth, the lack of length prevents a full exploration of the topic. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed with sufficient supporting evidence and reach the required word count to allow for a proper conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay shows a basic attempt at logical organization with an introduction and body paragraphs. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The major benefit' and 'On the other hand', but the flow is often mechanical. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is cut off, which disrupts the overall structure. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph is fully developed with a clear topic sentence and supporting details.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'improves in economic growth' instead of 'improvement in economic growth' and 'loosing traditions' instead of 'losing traditions'. You rely on simple, repetitive vocabulary. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and topic-specific terminology related to globalization and cultural impact. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you express your ideas more naturally and effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'people knows about other country's' (subject-verb agreement and possessive error) and 'Some of them not able to speak' (missing verb). Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Additionally, practice constructing complex sentences with accurate subordinate clauses to demonstrate better control over your grammar. Proofreading for common errors like these will significantly enhance your score.
