Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of international travel and media. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding the benefits are somewhat repetitive, focusing on general observations like 'beauty' and 'cleanliness'. The discussion on disadvantages is narrow, relying on a single, extreme example (North Korea) that is not fully supported by accurate evidence. The position is clear, but the lack of depth and the reliance on anecdotal or questionable claims prevent a higher score. To improve, you should provide more balanced, well-reasoned arguments that explore the broader implications of global connectivity.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'In addition'. Some transitions feel forced, and the logical progression between sentences is occasionally weak. For instance, the transition from the benefits of travel to the specific case of North Korea is abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and often repetitive, such as the repeated use of 'countries', 'media', and 'know'. There are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'The help of abroad travel' and 'see things by own eyes'. The range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little attempt to use more sophisticated or academic language appropriate for an IELTS Task 2 essay. To achieve a higher band, you should focus on learning collocations and using a wider range of synonyms to express your ideas more precisely and naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('it have some disadvantages', 'they will killed'), article usage, and sentence structure. There is a limited range of complex structures, and most sentences are simple or contain errors when attempting more complex ideas. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, you need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
