The ease of international travel and the spread of various kinds of mass media all over the world have made it more possible than ever for people to know how other people live in other countries.

Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the contemporary world, easy access to the internet and fast medium of travel across countries have made it easier for people to interact worldwide and know their lifestyles. While the globalization has some advantages such as international collaboration and the realm of different cultures, the destruction of local businesses and environment outweigh its advantages.
The primary benefit of the globalization is that people get a chance to interact with erudite personalities from different countries with various backgrounds. Noble scientists and entrepreneurs visit foreign countries for conferences to share their ideas, where the young generation of a developing nation would get an insight of how the world is rapidly moving forward. As a result, people from different countries will collab with each other and establish some factories and research laboratories. Furthermore, people sharing videos online of their festival with their counterpart countries can influence them to learn and enjoy the essence of others culture. For instance, a visiting theoretical scientist can help a local experimental material scientist who requires the theoretical study of their material before synthesis.
Despite aforementioned advantages, it cannot be denied that its disadvantages outnumber them. First, the setup of multinational firms will affect the local businesses. Markets will be filled with several variety of products all around the world at cheaper price than the local vendors offer, and people will most probably run behind international brands rather than buying from local stores. Moreover, more number of vehicles will be around the city as the number of tourists will increase which will cause pollution and subsequently the air quality of that country. For example, due to opening of international outlets such as Dominos and Burger King, the sell of pizza and burgers at local stores will experience a downfall.
In conclusion, although interaction among various overseas countries brings a significant positive impact, it is undeniable that natives will be affected badly in terms of commerce and air quality.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, maintaining a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding cultural exchange and economic/environmental impacts are relevant and supported with examples, such as the mention of scientific collaboration and the impact of multinational food chains. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven; the explanation of how international travel leads to pollution is a bit simplistic, and the link between 'erudite personalities' and 'factories' could be more clearly articulated. Overall, the position is well-maintained, and the response meets the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used throughout, such as 'Furthermore', 'Despite aforementioned advantages', and 'For instance'. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise (e.g., 'its disadvantages' in the third paragraph refers back to the topic of globalization, but the antecedent is slightly distant). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the benefits and drawbacks, contributing to a clear progression of ideas. The flow is generally smooth, though minor improvements in the variety of cohesive links would enhance the overall structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with some precision. Phrases like 'erudite personalities', 'synthesis', and 'multinational firms' show an attempt to use more sophisticated language. There are some minor inaccuracies in collocation and word choice, such as 'run behind international brands' (should be 'prefer' or 'gravitate towards') and 'sell of pizza' (should be 'sales'). Despite these occasional errors, the vocabulary is adequate for the task and does not impede communication. The student shows an awareness of style, though further refinement in word choice would elevate the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While there is a good attempt at complex sentences, there are persistent grammatical errors, such as 'the globalization' (unnecessary article), 'more number of vehicles' (should be 'a greater number of'), and 'essence of others culture' (should be 'other cultures'). Punctuation is generally accurate, but there are minor slips in article usage and pluralization. The errors do not impede meaning, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band score. Increasing the variety of error-free complex structures would be beneficial.
