Student answer (Band 5.0)

So i believe that the advantages of the given development do outweigh the disadvantages. Nowadays, people love to travel and get knowlege about others culture, food, tradition, behaviours, ethnics, etc. So, it is very common that people travel from one country or one place to another. and, the international travel have made it easier for them to do so.

we got many advantages of international travelling and mass medias. people get influenced by the social medias, videos, reels, photo, etc to visit some of the places they see on screen as some poeple show how beautiful that place and how interesting the people of that place are. as a result, they go to that place, learn about that area, cultute, people, etc. some people even stays woth them forever as they love their culture.

however, it is not always same. some people face the harsh reality over the reels of social medias. social media have beome a platform where people appreciate and also pour their dissatisfaction about something. social media have become a platform for showing feeling and point of views also. some places get very hate for their condition. prople even can get diseases while visiting that place. they get hatred torture etc.

For example, there was this guy named john from america who was a youtubver and wated to gain more likes and follower by vising some unusal thing ]. so he went to an iland where there were some locals of that island who were very dangerious. there was a history of them killing other peop[le who come to that island. but the boy risked his life and went. then he never came back we should never get influenced by the social media only. we shoyuld do some research instead.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of international travel and mass media, ultimately taking a clear position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Ideas are introduced, such as cultural exchange through travel and the misleading nature of social media, but they are often under-developed and rely on simplistic argumentation and a single overly anecdotal example, namely the story of 'john from america'. While the prompt is addressed, the depth of discussion aligns best with Band 5, where ideas are somewhat limited and lack thorough extension.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps establish a basic structure. However, logical progression is often hindered by abrupt shifts and repetitive phrasing, such as 'social media have become a platform'. Cohesive devices are used rather mechanically (e.g., 'So', 'Nowadays', 'however'), and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as pronoun shifts ('they go to that place... some people even stays woth them'). The organizational framework shows some progression but lacks smooth transitions, fitting the Band 5 descriptor.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on everyday terms like 'things', 'people', and 'places'. There are notable spelling and word-form errors throughout the text, such as 'knowlege' for knowledge, 'ethnics' for ethnicity, 'medias' for media, 'woth' for with, 'youbver' for YouTuber, 'wated' for wanted, 'unusal' for unusual, 'iland' for island, 'dangerious' for dangerous, and 'peop[le' for people. These errors indicate a limited range of vocabulary with noticeable mechanical issues, placing this criterion at Band 4.5, rounded to Band 5 for minimally adequate communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The text contains a mix of simple and emerging complex sentence structures, but grammatical accuracy is consistently weak. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'international travel have made', 'some people even stays', 'social media have'), capitalization errors (e.g., starting sentences with lowercase letters like 'So i believe', 'we got'), and punctuation lapses. Errors are frequent and often cause strain for the reader, which directly aligns with the Band 4 descriptor.
