Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, containing only 180 words, which severely restricts the overall development of the task. While the student attempts to address the prompt by acknowledging both the advantages and disadvantages of international travel and mass media, the ideas remain underdeveloped and incomplete. The introduction briefly outlines both sides, and the first body paragraph attempts to discuss cultural awareness and historical tourism, albeit with vague support and weak examples. Crucially, the response cuts off mid-sentence in the second body paragraph ('if some country has not that much kind people and then it will be wrong for'), leaving the counter-argument completely unresolved and the position unclear. Consequently, the task is addressed only partially, placing this criterion at a band 4.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays some basic organisational structure with an introduction and two body paragraphs, but there is no clear overall progression or conclusion due to the abrupt ending. While basic cohesive devices such as 'Although', 'One of the primary benefits', and 'For example' are used, referencing and cohesion are frequently faulty. For instance, the transition 'Therefore, It will be benefit for that person' contains mechanical and awkward phrasing. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is incomplete and abandoned mid-sentence, preventing any logical closure. This level of organization and cohesive control aligns with the band 5 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task. Words and phrases like 'international travel', 'mass media', 'cultures and traditions', and 'history lover' show an attempt to discuss the topic. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations throughout the text, such as 'In modern era' (missing article), 'easiest world travel', 'spend their lives on daily basis' (missing article), and 'want to experienced these places' (incorrect verb form). Vocabulary choice is restricted, and these errors occasionally cause difficulty or hesitation for the reader, fitting the criteria for a band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The text contains a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. Examples include 'people who want to know the life of other people living in different countries. Although it has multiple benefits for most of the people but also has certain drawbacks' (unbalanced complex structure and redundant conjunctions). There are frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, and articles, such as 'choose the country to travel where has a lot of historical places' and the unfinished final sentence. These frequent grammatical errors cause strain and confusion for the reader, justifying a band score of 4.5.
