Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of international travel and mass media. However, the development of ideas is superficial and poorly structured. The writer introduces a cumbersome framing device of dividing opinions into 'Group A' and 'Group B' rather than directly discussing the core societal impacts. While a position is stated in the conclusion supporting the benefits, the arguments provided within the body paragraphs are repetitive and underdeveloped. The text touches upon the prompt's requirements, but the lack of substantial examples and clear, sustained argumentation places it within the Band 5 descriptors, as the task is only partially addressed with limited ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks clear logical organization and progression. The division into paragraphs is arbitrary, with the second body paragraph running on into a single, massive block of text containing multiple shifting viewpoints ('Group A' and 'Group B') without adequate transition markers. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and repetitively, such as the frequent reliance on comma splices and basic conjunctions like 'and' or 'on the other hand'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in sentences like 'both groups have valid points to support their opnions.' Paragraphing is poorly handled, failing to separate distinct ideas effectively. This corresponds to the Band 4 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The lexical range is basic and repetitive, featuring frequent word-choice errors and spelling mistakes throughout the text. Examples include 'scientifical' instead of scientific, 'upcomming' instead of upcoming, 'benefical' instead of beneficial, and 'opnions' instead of opinions. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, but these attempts are marred by inaccurate spelling and inappropriate collocations. While basic communication is established, the frequency of lexical errors and limited vocabulary breadth align closely with the Band 4 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatical control is weak, with a high frequency of errors that frequently impede readability. The response contains numerous run-on sentences and comma splices, such as 'In this current era... lives in other countries.' There are also persistent errors in subject-verb agreement, such as 'everybody have' and 'people who use social media waste their time'. Complex sentence structures are attempted, but they are generally faulty or lack punctuation control. The range of structures is limited, and the density of basic grammatical errors places this response firmly at Band 4.
