Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, stopping abruptly at only 166 words and leaving the essay unfinished. Consequently, the task cannot be fully addressed. The writer attempts to introduce the topic and mentions both advantages and disadvantages in the introduction, but the main body paragraphs are severely underdeveloped. The second paragraph touches upon international travel and mass media with a brief personal example about visiting Naran valley, but it fails to properly weigh the advantages against the disadvantages as required by the prompt. Because of the incomplete nature of the response and significant under-development of ideas, the score is severely limited by the length penalty and incomplete content.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks clear overall progression and organization due to its unfinished state. While the writer attempts to use paragraphing, the second paragraph is cut off mid-sentence and the essay lacks a concluding paragraph entirely. Cohesive devices are used very simplistically and sometimes inaccurately, such as starting sentences with repetitive transitional phrases like 'For example recantly i visit' and 'Therefore mass media spreding very useful.' Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly with pronoun use ('Both also play a vital role'). The overall structure feels disjointed and mechanical, reflecting the early stages of essay-writing organization.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and restricted in range. The student relies on simple terms and makes frequent word choice and spelling errors, such as 'georgous' instead of gorgeous, 'recantly' instead of recently, and 'spreding' instead of spreading. Phrasing is often awkward and unnatural, such as 'make it more easy' instead of make it easier, and 'how other individuals are live thier life' instead of how others live their lives. These lexical errors and limited vocabulary choices occasionally strain the reader's understanding, fitting the band 4 profile.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
Grammatical control is weak throughout the short text. The student displays a very limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences consistently contain errors. Examples include tense and agreement errors such as 'International travel in recent decades are increase' instead of have increased, and 'Rise in travel all over the world help' instead of helps. There are frequent basic errors in punctuation and verb forms, such as 'i will discuss about this development' and 'Also give some examples'. The high frequency of grammatical errors distorts meaning in places and impedes smooth reading.
