Student answer (Band 4.5)
NOWADAYS, WE LIVE IN A SPREAD WORLD WICH SOCIAL MEDIA CHINGE EVERYTHING. BOT THE MAIN QUASTION IS THAT THE ADVENTEGES OF THIS DEVELOPEMENT OUTWEIGT THE DISADVENTEGES.
FIRST OF ALL, FROM MY PERSPECTIVE I SEE THAT YES THE ADVENTEGES OF SOCIAL MEDIA ARE VERY MORE THEN THE DISADVENTEGES FOR MENY REASON, ONE OF THEM IS THAT THIS KIND OF DEVELOPEMENT HELP PEOPLE TO SEE A DEFFERENT COLTURE, PLACES AND EVEN PEOPLE FROM HOME AND LEARN MORE ABOUT THE LIFESTYLE OF EVERY COUNTRY FROM HOME AND WITHOUT BUYING A TIKET OF THE PLAIN, IN ANOTHER MEANING FOR FREE. IN ANOTHER HAND WITHOUT SOCIAL MEDIA PEOPLE WILL SUFFER A LOT.
HOWHEVER, THE APPLICATINS OF SOCIAL MEDIA LIKE FACEBOOK, INSTEGREM AND TIK TOK OFFRER US TO MESSAGING ANY PERSON IN ANY TIME IN EVERWHER SO NO WHITH SOCIAL MEDIA THE DISTANCE IS NOT IMPORTANT ANYMORE. IN THE OTHER HAND, IN TH PAST JUS FOR SUNT A LETTER TO ANOTHER PERSON THAT TOOK DAYS OR EVEN MONTHES.
FINALLY, I THINK ALL PEPOLE AGREE THAT STOP USING SOCIAL MEDIA IS HARD IF WE DO NOT SAY IMPOSSIPLE BECAUSE THE LIFE IS DEMEND IT. FOR EXAMPLE, IN YOUTUBE WE CAN FIND A MILLIONE OF VIDIOUS, YOU JUST NEED TO KEYBORD WHAT DO YOU WANT AND YOU WILL EASILY FIND IT. A DEFFERNT KIND OF VEDIOUS TO LEARNING ANYTHING JUST FROM HOME.
IN CONCLUSION, I THINK IT IS OBVESELLY THAT THE GOOD SIDE OF SOCIAL MEDIA IS MORE THEN THE ANOTHER SIDE BUT THE TRUE ADEA IS THAT PEOPLE WHO JUST CAN CHOSE WHAT SIDE THEY WANT.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether the advantages of international travel and mass media outweigh the disadvantages. The candidate takes a clear position that the advantages outweigh the drawbacks, primarily focusing on how social media allows people to learn about different cultures and connect with others globally from home. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. For instance, the points about learning about cultures and watching YouTube videos are stated rather than deeply extended with specific examples or robust evidence. The response borders on a Band 5 or 6, but due to the underdeveloped arguments and generalized assertions throughout, it aligns most closely with the Band 5 descriptor for addressing the task partially with limited idea development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The essay is organised into an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an attempt at paragraphing. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by mechanical and faulty cohesive devices. The writer uses transitional phrases like 'FIRST OF ALL', 'HOWHEVER', 'IN ANOTHER HAND', and 'IN CONCLUSION', but these are often misused or misspelled, such as 'IN ANOTHER HAND' instead of 'on the other hand'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, and the mechanical repetition of sentence structures makes the flow disjointed. Overall organisation is present, but cohesion is heavily flawed and inadequate in places, matching the Band 4 to Band 5 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with numerous severe spelling errors that heavily strain the reader, such as 'WICH' for which, 'CHINGE' for change, 'QUASTION' for question, 'ADVENTEGES' for advantages, 'COLTURE' for culture, 'TIKET OF THE PLAIN' for plane ticket, 'INSTEGREM' for Instagram, 'OFFRER' for offer, 'EVERWHER' for everywhere, 'VIDIOUS' for videos, 'VEDIOUS' for videos, 'OBVESELLY' for obviously, and 'ADEA' for idea. While the writer attempts some less common words, the overwhelming frequency of spelling and word-choice errors severely restricts the lexical score to a Band 4.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that are heavily flawed. There is an almost total lack of accurate punctuation, and the text is written entirely in uppercase letters, which affects readability. Frequent errors in verb tense, subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure occur throughout the text, such as 'THE ADVENTEGES OF SOCIAL MEDIA ARE VERY MORE THEN THE DISADVENTEGES' and 'IF WE DO NOT SAY IMPOSSIPLE BECAUSE THE LIFE IS DEMEND IT.' These errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader and distort meaning at times, placing the performance firmly in the Band 4 category.
