Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays the greater convenience of international travel and the development of various kinds of media platforms have made more easy for people to know each others life styles across the world. While this development brings several benefits, it has aslo some drawbacks. I strongly believe that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
To begin with, one of the main benefit of this is people can learn about the way others live in different parts of the world. People from different countries can adopt each others food and eating habits as well as positive habits. If they like others traditions and cultures then they can practice them too. As a result, there will be respect and harmony among peoples of different countries. For example healthy eating habits of American may influence other nations and they tend to adopt the habits.
However there are also some disadvantages associated with easiness of international travel and spread of mass media. People may copy foreign traditions and cultures especially younger generations. As a result, traditions, customs and local habit became less popular. Furthermore, people tend to compare with others life styles especially others luxurious lifestyles and often became disatisfied with their lifestyles and living standards.
In conclusion, while there are some drawbacks that people tend to follow others traditions and cultures by forgetting their own and compare each others lifestyles but the advantages like adopting good habits and respecting each others traditions outweigh the disadvantages .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both advantages and disadvantages and clearly stating a position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Ideas are introduced, such as learning about different ways of living and the potential loss of local traditions, but they remain somewhat underdeveloped and over-generalized. For example, the argument that people adopt healthy eating habits is supported only by a brief mention that 'healthy eating habits of American may influence other nations.' Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the response contains 238 words, which falls short of the 250-word minimum. This under-length impacts the overall development of ideas. Consequently, the performance aligns best with Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is arranged into four paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an attempt at logical organisation. However, the overall progression is sometimes hindered by mechanical or repetitive cohesive devices. For instance, the transition 'To begin with' is used appropriately, but links between sentences within the body paragraphs can be abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the conclusion where multiple ideas are crowded into a single run-on sentence ('while there are some drawbacks that people tend to follow others traditions and cultures by forgetting their own and compare each others lifestyles but the advantages...'). Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion requires better management. These features fit the Band 5 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases such as 'mass media platforms' and 'luxurious lifestyles'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices throughout the text, including 'made more easy' instead of 'made it easier', 'each others life styles' (possessive form errors), 'easiness of international travel' instead of 'ease of international travel', and 'disatisfied' (spelling error). While communication is generally maintained despite these flaws, the vocabulary remains somewhat limited and repetitive. This performance corresponds to a Band 5 descriptor level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as subordinate clauses beginning with 'While this development brings...' and 'If they like others traditions...'. However, control over complex structures is inconsistent and frequent grammatical errors occur. Examples include missing articles ('one of the main benefit', 'healthy eating habits of American'), incorrect prepositional usage, and punctuation or structural faults in complex sentences. The final sentence is excessively long and grammatically tangled. Because errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, this writing sits firmly at Band 5.
