Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both the impact of mass media and international travel while taking a clear position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are generally relevant, mentioning cultural awareness, travel blogging, and cheaper travel packages. However, the development of ideas tends to be a bit descriptive rather than analytical. For instance, the example about Luke Deckermen or Finland offering stipends are stated but not fully linked back to a deep exploration of the core question regarding societal advantages and disadvantages. This places the response comfortably at Band 6.0, as it addresses the prompt adequately but lacks the deeper extension and robust support required for higher band levels.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression from an introduction to body paragraphs discussing media and travel agencies, concluding with a clear stance. Paragraphing is utilized, though some paragraphs could be better structured for logical flow. Cohesive devices are present, but there are instances of faulty or mechanical referencing, such as starting sentences abruptly without smooth transitional phrases. For example, sentences like 'Everything could be easily known through differnt vlogs and blogs' and 'Travel agencies have expanded drastically, they advertise the travel packages moreover make economical packages...' demonstrate comma splices and slightly disjointed logical links. Therefore, the performance aligns with Band 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common lexical items such as 'feasibility', 'ethicities' (a typo for ethnicities), and 'trasure' (a typo for treasure). However, there are several spelling errors and word-choice inaccuracies throughout the text, including 'differnt', 'abouts', 'accomodations', 'tahjn', and 'appreciatable'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 6.0 because the control over less common vocabulary lacks precision and consistency.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation issues, such as run-on sentences, comma splices ('Travel agencies have expanded drastically, they advertise the travel packages moreover make economical packages'), and missing articles or prepositions. While the meaning remains generally clear and communication is rarely impeded, the frequency of these grammatical and punctuation slips prevents the essay from reaching Band 7.0, where frequent error-free sentences and tight control of punctuation are expected.
