Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is widely believed that the ease of travelling overseas and the spread of numerous types of mass media around the globe have made it plausible to understand how other individuals live in different countries than in the past. Although this notion has certain drawbacks, I believe its cultural and societal advantages outweigh its disadvantages.
One of the significant benefits is that it acknowledges people about the traditions and cultures that is followed by different people in several nations across the world. This is because individuals can understand the similarities and gaps between cultures; therefore, they can make refinements in their existing by observing. For instance, many scientists visit cultural heritage sites or conventional places in different countries to get insights of cultural information and to fill missing values. As a result, it leads to efficient way of understanding of multiple cultures and traditions with more clarity. Another important merit is that it provides better social awareness in the society while undertaking other cultural or traditional information. This is mainly due to varied data mentioned in some cultural books with regard to daily life skills, ethical values and prevalent myths. Consequently, people can raise their standards of living and contribute socially.
One of the primary demerits of this is that it would create a lot of chaos in the country. This is mainly due to some people have old school thinking and it would overlap with existing cultural forums. As a result, it can create several discrepancies like it can hurt someone's sentiments attached to a particular belief. For example, it would be difficult for individuals to distinguish between existing and new western information because everyone will follow a different culture to maintain and depict my culture has strongest arguments, kind of things.
In conclusion, although this view has some negative consequences, I believe its advantages particularly cultural and social awareness outweigh it disadvantages such as discrepancies it includes because of overlapping cause.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear position that the advantages of international travel and mass media outweigh the disadvantages. Ideas are introduced and supported, such as cultural understanding and social awareness in the body paragraphs. However, some of the arguments and examples lack full development and clarity. For instance, the phrase 'it acknowledges people about the traditions' and the example regarding scientists visiting cultural heritage sites are somewhat vague and do not fully elucidate the main point. Furthermore, the counter-argument regarding chaos and old school thinking in the third paragraph is somewhat convoluted and lacks a precise, well-reasoned example. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, fitting the profile of a Band 6.0 response where all parts are addressed, but some ideas remain under-developed or unclear.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, as well as distinct body paragraphs. Logical connectors are utilised to guide the reader through the arguments, such as 'One of the significant benefits is that', 'This is because', and 'In conclusion'. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, referencing and transitional phrases occasionally feel strained, as seen in 'while undertaking other cultural or traditional information' and 'to maintain and depict my culture has strongest arguments, kind of things', which breaks the academic tone and disrupts the smooth progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate advantages and disadvantages, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs could be tighter. These characteristics place the response firmly at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'plausible', 'prevalent', 'discrepancies', and 'sentiments'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and phrasing throughout the text. Examples include 'acknowledges people about the traditions' (instead of 'educates people about'), 'conventional places' (instead of 'historic places'), and 'overlapping cause'. Additionally, the register slips into informality near the end with the phrase 'kind of things'. Spelling and word-formation errors do not severely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score. This performance aligns with the Band 6 descriptors, which highlight an adequate range with some inaccuracy and occasional errors that do not block understanding.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses, such as in the introductory sentence and '...traditions and cultures that is followed by different people...'. There are, however, several grammatical errors and awkward structures. Notable errors include subject-verb agreement issues ('cultures that is followed', 'some people have... and it would...'), missing articles, and confusing clause structures like 'depict my culture has strongest arguments'. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but grammatical slips recur throughout the text. Because the writer combines complex sentence attempts with frequent non-systematic errors that occasionally cause the reader to pause, a Band 6.0 is the appropriate score.
