International travel has advantages, one benefit is it boosts the country economy. Social media attract more number of visitor in the country. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of international travel and mass media, culminating in a clear position that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as economic growth through tourism and cultural understanding, as well as drawbacks like overcrowding and pollution. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others; for instance, the points about economic benefits and cultural exposure are supported with examples such as Nigeria and Taxila, but the development remains somewhat generalised and relies on sweeping statements. To reach a higher band, the writer would need to extend and support all arguments with deeper explanation rather than brief assertions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the response is divided into logical paragraphs covering distinct points. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'For Example', 'Another positive aspect', and 'However'. Nevertheless, referencing and cohesion are occasionally mechanical or slightly faulty, and the progression between sentences within paragraphs can feel disjointed at times. The use of transitional markers sometimes feels formulaic rather than naturally integrated. To achieve a higher level of coherence and progression, the writer should ensure smoother transitions between ideas and more precise referencing across sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'tourism industry', 'cultural understanding', and 'traffic congestion'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word forms throughout the text. Examples include 'influence boost' instead of 'boost', 'internatinal' and 'accomdations' due to spelling errors, and awkward phrasing such as 'its temperature is rised in years through pollution'. These lexical errors and spelling mistakes occasionally require the reader to re-read parts of the text. To move beyond this level, the student needs to expand their range of vocabulary, improve spelling accuracy, and pay closer attention to natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, attempting structures like 'When a place become popular through media and travel it attract more visitors'. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly involving verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and articles, such as 'the public easily can see', 'it tourism contribute', 'the peoples will able to know', and 'mames fast econmey growth'. While these errors do not completely obscure the central meaning of the essay, they occur frequently and can cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, the writer must focus on consistent control over basic grammatical structures, correct verb tenses, and accurate agreement.
