Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response recognises the topic and mentions a possible benefit: social media can help people learn about events and social conditions elsewhere. However, it does not answer the central question of whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. The opening says there are “both advantages and dissadvantages,” but gives no clear position, and the final paragraph only announces that there are drawbacks without explaining any. The benefit about travel and learning how people behave is also difficult to follow and is not supported with a specific example. The response contains 114 words, so it is 136 words below the required minimum; this leaves the task substantially incomplete. To improve, state your view clearly and develop both sides with relevant explanations and examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introduction is followed by a paragraph beginning “the most obvious benefits,” then a paragraph introducing drawbacks. This gives the reader some indication of the intended structure. However, the ideas do not progress into a complete argument: the final paragraph stops after one sentence, and the relationship between international travel, government travel, and people learning about other cultures is unclear. Linking phrases such as “furthermore” are used, but they do not connect developed points. Paragraphing would be more effective if each paragraph focused on one clear idea and explained it before moving on. A complete conclusion should also summarise the comparison and restate the writer’s position.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response attempts topic-related vocabulary, including “mass media,” “social circumstance,” “incidents,” and “shaping characters.” These choices show an effort to discuss international communication and cultural awareness. However, spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word combinations often make the intended meaning difficult to understand, as in “social media plattform,” “lot of trawlling system,” and “how ther nature it is.” Some words are repeated, particularly “all over the world,” while the range of precise language for comparing advantages and disadvantages is very limited. Use familiar vocabulary accurately before attempting more ambitious expressions, and check spelling carefully. More precise phrases such as “cultural practices” and “international tourism” would help express the ideas clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The response mainly uses simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to connect ideas using “that” and “and.” However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes obscure meaning. For example, “the various kinds of mass media … made it possible” has an unclear tense and structure, while “the most obvious benefits is” has a subject–verb agreement error. The opening also lacks appropriate sentence boundaries and capitalisation, and several clauses run together, particularly in the paragraph about travel and government. There is little evidence of controlled complex sentence forms. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, checking agreement, articles, and punctuation, then add subordinate clauses only when their meaning is clear.
