Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear overall view that the development is positive, and you identify relevant benefits, such as learning about other cultures and trying international cuisine, alongside concerns about cultural identity and local farmers. However, the response only partially answers whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages: the conclusion calls for “a balance approach” rather than clearly weighing the two sides. Several points are asserted rather than explained, and the survey example is vague and does not clearly support the argument. The response is also 54 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop and support your ideas. To strengthen the response, state explicitly which side is stronger and explain each main point with a specific, relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs presenting opposing sides, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “on the one side,” “on the other hand,” and “in conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. For example, the link between mass media and exploring places without travelling is not fully explained, and the food survey sentence does not clearly connect its evidence to the preceding claim. Some transitions feel mechanical, while “so” after the conclusion’s opening sentence creates an abrupt link. Develop one main idea at a time, use clearer references to connect sentences, and make the conclusion directly reflect the comparison in your argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “customs and tradition,” “international cultural,” “dressing styles,” and “local foods.” These choices show an effort to discuss culture and the effects of globalisation. However, the range is limited, and frequent spelling, word-form, and collocation errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “earier,” “perfer,” “ingredients,” and “detrimental affects”; phrases such as “modern lifestyle” and “foreign ingredients” are also used without enough precision to explain the specific impact. Build a more accurate set of topic vocabulary and check spelling and natural word combinations. More precise terms for cultural exchange, local production, and consumer habits would help you express your ideas clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use some sentence variety, including a relative clause in “mass media, which encourage them to explore different places” and a contrast structure beginning “although modernization provides…”. However, attempts at longer sentences are often faulty, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms can make meaning difficult to follow. For example, “there has some drawbacks” needs a different verb construction, while “they loss their identify” has errors in both the verb form and sentence meaning. The opening also begins with a lower-case letter and contains an incomplete or unclear construction. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with subordinate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and punctuation when editing.
