Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a position that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, and you identify relevant benefits: travel can expose people to other cultures and lifestyles, while media can help with booking tickets. You also acknowledge fuel use and environmental harm. However, the response only partially develops the comparison asked for. The environmental point is briefly mentioned, and the claim that experts will mitigate its effects is not supported with an example or explanation. The advantages are also asserted more than demonstrated; for instance, explain how learning about another culture benefits individuals or societies. Make your position explicit in the introduction and conclusion, then develop two clear advantages and weigh them directly against the disadvantage.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable essay structure, with an introduction, discussion paragraphs and a conclusion, and linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “Although” and “Moreover” help signal relationships. However, progression is not consistently clear: the paragraph beginning “Although” moves from environmental damage to scientists’ work and then to online ticket discounts, combining several points without a clear central focus. Some transitions are also awkward or do not express the intended relationship clearly. Organise each body paragraph around one main idea, use a topic sentence to establish it, and explain the supporting detail before moving on. This would make the argument easier to follow and reduce reliance on connectors as substitutes for logical development.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “international travel,” “significant amount of fuel,” “detrimental effects” and “lifestyle.” These choices show an effort to discuss the topic beyond basic terms. However, noticeable spelling, word-form and collocation errors sometimes make the wording difficult to interpret, as in “Undoubtely,” “transportations,” “environment pollutant” and “worldwidely availability.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “the facility of international travel” and “make our dream to comes true.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding formal-sounding words. Proofread spelling and check unfamiliar expressions in context; clearer choices such as “ease of international travel” and “environmental pollution” would improve precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concession beginning “Although” and a relative clause in “that is truly fascinating.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read. Examples include “To began with,” “People in the past could never assumed,” “International travel allow,” and “it allow us.” There are also problems with articles, verb forms, agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “its influence on communication is inevitable” after a comma splice. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and correctly conjugated verb, then check agreement and tense. Build longer sentences only when you can control the clauses and punctuation.
