Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both advantages and disadvantages and give a concluding recommendation for a government department to check news. However, the question asks whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and your position on this comparison is not clear: calling the development beneficial does not explain which side is stronger. The benefits—greater awareness of world events and knowledge of other cultures—are relevant, but they are stated broadly and the example about wars is difficult to follow. The disadvantages focus mainly on false news and its effects in Pakistan, with little explanation of how these effects compare with the benefits. State your judgement directly and develop each main point with a clear explanation and a relevant, specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “To begin with,” “Now the disadvantages,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow this structure. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, particularly in the example about wars, where the relationship between reporting and people “starts fighting” is not explained. Some linking is mechanical, and references such as “they” and “it” do not always make clear who or what is meant. Improve cohesion by connecting each example explicitly to its main point and using precise references, rather than relying mainly on paragraph-opening transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “global village,” “culture,” “false news,” and “economically,” and you attempt to discuss social and political consequences. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “fairful,” “fase,” “beurocracy,” and “damocracy.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, including “more knowledge able and awer” and “it will release on social media.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms for the central ideas—such as international awareness, cultural understanding, misinformation, and public institutions—would help you express the argument clearly and avoid repeating general words such as “effect.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the concession in “Although it is a beneficial invention” and the conditional idea “if any war starts.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries can make meaning difficult to follow. For example, “which make them” should agree with its subject, while “it sometime spread” needs a correctly formed adverb and verb. The sentence beginning “Although it is a good invention” is also joined awkwardly to the following clause. Practise building accurate sentences with one clear main clause, then add subordinate clauses; check subject–verb agreement and punctuation when editing.
