Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the topic and give a generally positive view, with relevant references to social media, online learning and international news. However, the position is not clearly framed as an answer to whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and the disadvantages are not discussed. Examples such as people supporting a tiger online and following news about Ukraine and the USA are difficult to understand or explain, so they do not adequately support your claims. The response also contains 228 words, below the 250-word minimum; 36 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen the response, state your comparative position clearly, address both advantages and disadvantages, and develop each point with a specific, clearly explained example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic overall structure: an opening, two body paragraphs signalled by “firstly” and “secondly,” and a conclusion. These markers help the reader recognise the intended stages of the response. However, ideas within the paragraphs are often difficult to follow, and the first body paragraph moves rapidly between websites, personal interests, a tiger story and online support without clear links. The second paragraph combines online classes with international conflict news, but does not explain how these points connect. Some linking phrases, such as “also” and “this is,” are repeated without clarifying relationships. Organise each paragraph around one main idea, then explain it and give a relevant example before moving on.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
You attempt vocabulary related to the topic, including “international travel,” “mass media,” “online class” and “platform,” and you refer to specific media such as Instagram and YouTube. This shows an effort to discuss modern communication and global awareness. However, the vocabulary is basic and highly repetitive, with frequent spelling and word-choice problems that make several ideas hard to understand, such as “uniq platform,” “very vairal” and “tigher close frind.” Some expressions are also unnatural, including “know some things in very sort time.” Build a more accurate range of topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations. For example, use “learn about other cultures” rather than “know some things,” and “spread rapidly online” rather than “very viral.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The response attempts a few longer sentence patterns, including the opening sentence and clauses introduced by “because” and “so,” but most sentences rely on simple structures, and control is inconsistent. Errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction are frequent: “I am fully agree” should be “I fully agree,” while “they doing very good” needs a correctly formed verb phrase. Several sentences run together or lack clear punctuation, particularly the opening and the long example in the first body paragraph. These problems sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using clear subordinate clauses and check each sentence for a subject, a correctly formed verb and appropriate punctuation.
