Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You take a position that the benefits outweigh the disadvantages, and you mention relevant effects: travel can expose people to terrorism, while travel and media can support cultural exchange, friendship and business. However, these points are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported with specific examples, and the discussion of terrorism is broad. The response also does not fully develop how mass media helps people understand life in other countries. The essay contains 231 words, so it is 19 words below the required minimum; 33 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen the response, develop both sides with clear explanations and a concrete example, then state your overall judgement more clearly in the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a recognisable contrast between disadvantages and advantages, signalled by phrases such as “but” and “on the other hand,” and the reader can identify your general position. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the main ideas are not separated into a clear introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion. Several points run together, particularly the discussion of terrorism and the later shift to business and relationships. Some linking is also mechanical or unclear, and the final sentence does not provide a clear summary of your argument. Use separate paragraphs for the introduction, each side of the argument, and the conclusion; organise each paragraph around one main point and connect supporting details explicitly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “international travel,” “mass media,” “friendly relations” and “terrorist activities,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “overweights the disadvantage,” “very benefited” and “people get envolved in love.” Frequent spelling errors—including “develpoment,” “diferent” and “througjh”—also reduce clarity and control. Aim for accurate, natural phrases rather than repeating broad terms such as “people” and “world.” Learning topic-specific collocations and proofreading spelling would make your ideas easier to follow and more precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Your response relies mainly on simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to connect clauses, for example, “they can share their ideas … and can have friendly relations with them.” However, frequent errors in sentence boundaries, capitalisation and sentence structure make the writing difficult to read in places. Examples include “it is very much important” after a full stop, and the run-on sequence beginning “everyday, there are bomb blasts.” There are also problems with articles and grammatical forms, as in “at the risk” and “belonging from far much places.” Practise writing complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check punctuation and capital letters. Building accurate simple sentences first will help you add more varied structures.
