Student answer (Band 4.5)
The convenience of international travel and the spread of different kinds of mass media over the globe has enabled people more to know about how other people live in other countries. As the world has turned into a global village for the advancement of mass media and travelling, the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages.
Now, we live in an era where the whole information about the world is in the palm of our hand. We can get to know about the lifestyle of people who live in other countries by watching youtube or by surfing the newspaper. For the invention of aeroplance, now we can travel to any corner of the world by ease. In the past, it took ages just to travel to neighbouring countries. At present, we can go to another corner of the world in just two to three days. People are now travelling more than ever and are exploring the beautiful nature of the world.
Every invention and development has its pros and cons. Advancement of media and international travel are no exception to it. Due to omnipresence of media around us, fake news and rumors are spreading rapidly. It is now quite difficult to identify which news are true and which are false. Plane crash are happening quite often around the world and unfortunately almost all the passengers die due to it. For instance, the recent plane crash in India has cost the life of all the passengers and pilot, and only one passenger was alive.
At present, technology is expanding rapidly and our life is becoming more easier than before. Now, we can travel to anywhere in the world if we want. We can get to know more about the people who live in abroad. mobile.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You state a clear view in the introduction: the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. However, the discussion does not adequately answer the comparison in the question. Most of the first body paragraph describes access to information and easier travel, while the disadvantages paragraph focuses on fake news and plane crashes; these points are not weighed against each other or developed into a convincing argument about their effects on understanding other cultures. The final paragraph repeats that travel and media make life easier, then ends with the disconnected word “mobile.” The example of a crash is specific, but its relevance to the overall judgement is not explained. To strengthen the response, develop a few directly relevant advantages and disadvantages, support them, and show why one side is more significant. The response meets the required length; eight words copied from the prompt were excluded from the count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has an introduction, two main discussion paragraphs and a concluding paragraph, so the reader can identify its broad structure. Basic links such as “For instance” and “At present” help connect some sentences. However, progression is weak: the first body paragraph moves from media access to the history of travel and tourism without clearly linking these points to the central comparison. The paragraph on disadvantages shifts from misinformation to plane crashes, which are not connected through an explained argument. The final paragraph largely repeats earlier claims and ends abruptly with “mobile.” Use each paragraph to develop one clear point, connect examples explicitly to that point, and make the conclusion summarise the comparison rather than introduce an incomplete fragment.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “global village,” “omnipresence,” “fake news,” and “international travel,” and the main ideas are generally understandable. There is also an attempt to vary wording through phrases such as “spread,” “advancement,” and “invention.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “know about how,” “by ease,” “surfing the newspaper,” and “more easier.” “Aeroplance” is misspelled, and “mobile” at the end is incomplete and unclear. These errors limit precision and make parts of the response sound unnatural. Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “learn about other cultures,” “travel with ease,” and “read the newspaper,” and check spelling and word forms before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including “Due to omnipresence of media around us, fake news and rumors are spreading rapidly.” Most sentences communicate a basic meaning, but errors recur in agreement, articles, comparatives and sentence construction. For example, “the convenience … and the spread … has enabled” uses a singular verb with a compound subject; “the whole information” has an unsuitable article pattern; and “our life is becoming more easier” uses a double comparative. In “We can get to know more about the people who live in abroad,” the clause is not formed accurately, and the final “mobile” is a fragment. Practise checking subject–verb agreement, article use and complete sentence boundaries, while building more accurate complex sentences.
