Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays people can easily travel to other countries because of cheap flight and advanced technology . Also mass media like the internate and television. show how people live around the world every day . In my opinion this morden development has far more advantage than disadvantage for global society.

On the one hand knowing about different culture is very beneficial people can learn new language and try different foods when they trevel abroad . for example many young people watch hollywood movies and learn about American lifestyle this makes society more open minded and friendlier to forginer .it can also help global business because companies understand internation customers better.

On the other hand , there are some negative sides to this trend . sometimes young people copy foreign cultures blindly and forget their own traditional . for instance , they prefer western fast food instead of traditional healthy meals . Moreover some media channels show bad things about a country which created wrong stereotypes and misunderstanding between nations.

In conclusion global travel and mass media have some negative effect like losing local cuture however I believe that the benefits are much more significant because it help people to connect globaly reduced racism and learn from each other easily. International tarvel is one time experence for everyone its very costly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You answer the question directly and maintain a clear view that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Relevant benefits include learning about other cultures, becoming more open-minded, and helping international businesses; you also acknowledge cultural imitation and stereotypes as drawbacks. However, several points are asserted rather than explained: for example, the link between Hollywood films and reduced prejudice needs a clearer explanation or a specific example. The conclusion introduces the idea that travel is costly, which is not developed in the essay and slightly weakens the comparison. The response is also 31 words below the required minimum, so there is limited space to develop and support your ideas. Expand the main points and connect each example explicitly to your overall judgement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a paragraph on drawbacks, and a conclusion. The contrast signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the argument, and the position is repeated in the conclusion. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the stronger progression expected at the next level. However, links within paragraphs are sometimes abrupt: the move from learning languages and food to business is not explained, and the final sentence about travel being costly feels disconnected from the conclusion. Improve progression by grouping related points, using clear references to connect examples to claims, and ensuring every concluding point has been discussed earlier.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “traditional,” “stereotypes,” “misunderstanding,” and “international customers.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “copy foreign cultures blindly.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural word choices are noticeable, including “internate,” “morden,” “forginer,” and “one time experence.” Some phrases are also awkward, such as “reduced racism” and “global society,” which limit precision. Build a reliable range of collocations for culture, travel, and media, and proofread spelling carefully. Replacing broad claims with more exact wording will make your argument clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast structure beginning “On the other hand” and a relative clause in “which created wrong stereotypes.” The main meaning is generally understandable, but errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and plural forms occur across the response. For example, “Also mass media like the internate and television. show” is incorrectly divided, while “this morden development has far more advantage” has agreement and number problems. The final sentence also combines several ideas without clear grammatical control. Practise joining clauses with accurate punctuation and checking subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms. More consistently accurate sentences would make your ideas easier to follow.
