Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You give a clear overall view that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and you mention both useful travel information and the risk of misleading content. However, the response only partially addresses the question: it focuses mainly on mass media and travel, with little explanation of how people learn about the way others live in different countries. The examples of studying in the UK, America, Australia and Canada are relevant but are not developed to show their impact. The disadvantages are also asserted rather than explained. The response is 232 words, so it is 18 words below the required minimum; the 20 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each main point with a clear explanation and a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: it opens with a position, moves to benefits, introduces drawbacks and ends with a conclusion. However, the progression within the main body is difficult to follow because several ideas are run together, and the benefits and drawbacks are not separated into clear paragraphs. Linking phrases such as “Firstly,” “So that,” and “In conclusion” show an effort to connect ideas, but some are used awkwardly or do not express the relationship clearly. Repetition of “mass media” and “people” also makes the writing feel circular. Use one paragraph for advantages and one for disadvantages, and connect each sentence to a clearly stated main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “international traveling,” “misunderstanding,” “information,” and “education,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is limited and key phrases are repeated, especially “mass media” and “traveling.” Several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “mass media tell to people,” “fake and wrong information,” and “more positive for traveling.” Spelling errors such as “khown,” “knownlege,” and “ocassionally” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise expressions and check spelling; for example, explain that media can “provide travel information” or “mislead travellers” rather than repeating broad phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts a few longer structures, including “because of mass media” and “when we do travel in foreign countries,” but most sentences follow a simple pattern, and errors are frequent enough to make some relationships unclear. Examples include “benefits of Mass media is,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “people to know how live in other countries,” which lacks a complete grammatical structure. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “people should more carefully” and the run-on sequence beginning “Mass media are play an important role.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with clauses using “because,” “which” and “although.”
