Student answer (Band 5.5)
The ease of international travel and the spread of various kinds of information all over the world through various kinds of mass media like social media has made life much more easier and helped other people to know how people in other countries live.
The advantages of this development greatly outweighs the disadvantage. In cases of immigration it is very possible to find people having hard time around navigating their path especially in the earliest days in their new destination. The rigours of trying to settle in, finding their way around the country can be a hassle, but with the invent of technology using mediums like social media, google maps, browsers, information is made handy at all times.
I still recall a few years ago when i had scheduled a trip to China for business purpose but had no idea what the country looks like. I took time to find information online to know what China looks like, their indigenous languages, culture, dress sense, foods and fun places to visit. I did all of these findings alongside my preparation for the planned trip and truthfully it made things a whole lot easier for me.
Immigration is now a whole lot easier than it used to be because people are opportuned to get every needful information they require in time before they arrive their destination, it eliminates the stress of requiring tour guides and greatly improves travel experiences. It would help people new to a particular environment get accustomed to the cultures of the people in the new environment they find themselves.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You take a clear position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and support it with relevant examples, particularly your account of researching China before a business trip. The points about helping immigrants navigate a new country and learn about local culture also address the topic. However, the response focuses almost entirely on benefits and does not explain any disadvantages, so it only partially addresses the comparison in the question. Several claims, such as immigration being “a whole lot easier,” would benefit from more specific explanation or evidence. The response is 248 words, below the 250-word minimum; the 12 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop the opposing side briefly and add a more fully explained comparison to complete the task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a statement of position, and supporting paragraphs that move from general benefits to a personal example and then back to immigration. The China anecdote gives the discussion a clear illustration. However, the overall progression is limited because the essay develops only advantages and does not organise a comparison with disadvantages. Connections between ideas are sometimes repetitive, especially the repeated references to immigration and making travel easier. Some sentences also carry several points at once, which makes the progression less smooth. Use a separate paragraph to consider a disadvantage, then link it explicitly to your conclusion about which side is stronger. This would make the argument more balanced and easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “immigration,” “indigenous languages,” “culture,” and “travel experiences,” and the personal example helps make the meaning clear. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “the rigours of trying to settle in.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “the invent of technology,” “opportuned,” and “every needful information.” Repetition of “a whole lot easier” and “environment” also limits variety and precision. Aim for more natural academic phrasing and check word forms and collocations. For example, “the advent of technology” and “access to the information they need” would express your ideas more idiomatically.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including longer clauses with “but” and “because,” and most of the meaning remains understandable. However, control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences. For example, “The advantages of this development greatly outweighs the disadvantage” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “has made life much more easier” uses an incorrect comparative form. In “I took time to find information online to know what China looks like, their indigenous languages,” the list is not grammatically parallel and punctuation is missing. There are also inconsistent capitalisation and sentence-boundary issues. Practise checking agreement, comparative forms, and punctuation, and divide sentences that combine too many ideas. More accurate control of these patterns would make your argument clearer.
