Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the present era due to the easy ways of international traval and vast use of mass media, there is great possibility than ever to know about the life style of other people around the world. According to my opinion the disadvantages outweigh the advantages of this development.

There is few benefits of this development. Mainly, it good for understanding of cultural diversity and explore differences across the nations. Through this individuals know that despite the cultural differences and differences in food and clothing styles, the morals and human values are same everywhere. When people visit other countries or watch any documentary, they get to know that people are still kind and have humanity. For instance when any foreign tourist visit Pakistan the native people treat them in really good way and offer them different cultural food or things.

On the other hand, due to this development young generation may be try to adapt westren dressing or food which is really harmful for their own culture. Due to watch online content or by visiting other countries the majority of Pakistani young people are copying western clothing styles and also adapting their habits. It is detrimental for indiginous culture and traditions. According to my perspective its disadvantage is more considerable than its advantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear answer to the question by stating that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages, and you discuss both sides. The cultural-understanding benefit is relevant, as is your concern that young people may copy overseas clothing and habits. However, the response is under the required 250 words, and this limits how fully you can develop and support these points. The example about Pakistani hosts welcoming tourists illustrates cultural kindness, but it does not clearly show how this benefit compares with the stated disadvantage. Explain the effects in more detail and support your judgement with a more directly relevant example or evidence. Your position is present, but the reasoning is limited and the comparison between advantages and disadvantages needs clearer development.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic, recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, and a paragraph on disadvantages, with signposts such as “On the other hand.” This helps the reader follow the broad direction of your argument. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and the conclusion is only a brief restatement rather than a developed summary. Some links between claims and examples are unclear: the example of Pakistani hospitality follows the point about shared human values, but its relevance to the overall comparison could be made explicit. Develop each paragraph around a clear main point, then explain how the example supports it. Use linking expressions selectively and add a concluding sentence that brings your reasoning together.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “cultural diversity,” “human values,” “documentary,” and “indigenous culture,” which helps communicate your main ideas. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “detrimental” and “outweigh.” However, the range is limited and several spelling or word-choice errors are noticeable, including “traval,” “westren,” and “indiginous.” Phrases such as “great possibility” and “good for understanding” are also imprecise or unnatural in this context. Aim to learn accurate collocations for discussing cultural influence and international exposure, and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would make your argument clearer and more convincing without requiring unnecessarily complex words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You communicate your main position using mostly simple sentence patterns, and you attempt some longer structures, for example, “Through this individuals know that despite the cultural differences … the morals and human values are same everywhere.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response awkward. Examples include “There is few benefits,” “it good for understanding,” and “the majority … are copying,” where agreement or verb construction is faulty. Articles are also missing in phrases such as “the morals and human values are same everywhere,” and punctuation is inconsistent, particularly around introductory phrases. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete clause structures, then combine ideas using controlled complex sentences. This will improve clarity while preserving your relevant points.
