Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. Furthermore, the report is incomplete, as it cuts off mid-sentence while discussing the survey data. While you have identified the main trends in the bar charts, the description is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear overview or summary of the key features. The data points are presented in a list-like fashion rather than being synthesised into a coherent report. To improve, ensure you complete all sections of the task and provide a clear summary of the overall trends rather than just listing individual figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes awkward, such as 'To begin with speed camera fines' and 'Moreover, road accident fatalities'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the abrupt ending prevents a logical conclusion. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus. The lack of a concluding summary makes the overall structure feel incomplete.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on the words provided in the prompt. There are issues with word choice and units of measurement, such as using '2lakh' (which is not standard in IELTS Academic) and '1 year' instead of 'the first year'. Phrases like 'number is increase normally' and 'number is surge' demonstrate a lack of control over collocations and verb forms. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'witnessed a significant rise'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles ('in 1 year', 'in different year'), incorrect verb tenses, and awkward sentence structures. For example, 'number of people who killed' should be 'number of people killed'. The sentence construction is often simplistic, and the lack of punctuation in some areas makes the text difficult to follow. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Aim to incorporate more complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions, while ensuring they are grammatically accurate.
