Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task, including the graphs and the survey tables. However, the reporting of data is inconsistent and lacks precision. For instance, the use of '2lakh' is inappropriate for an international IELTS exam, as it is a regional numbering system. Furthermore, the description of the trends is somewhat confusing; for example, stating that fatalities are '3000 to 3500' over eight years is a vague summary that misses the specific fluctuations shown in the data. The overview at the end is too brief and does not effectively synthesize the main trends or the relationship between the fines and the fatalities.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is often mechanical. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'moreover' and 'in addition'. Some transitions are awkward, such as 'To begin with speed camera fines', which lacks a proper grammatical connection to the rest of the sentence. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult to track which data point is being discussed. The overall flow would benefit from more varied linking words and better signposting between the graph data and the survey data.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. The use of '2lakh' is a significant issue for an international audience. There are also instances of word-choice errors, such as 'number is surge rapidly' (should be 'surged') and '3% public do not idea about that' (should be 'have no opinion'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic descriptors like 'increase' and 'number'. To improve, you should incorporate more precise terminology for describing trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable', and avoid informal or regional numerical terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'number of people who killed' (should be 'who were killed'), '1 year around 2lakh people break some rules' (tense inconsistency), and 'it is improve road safety' (should be 'it improves'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage would significantly improve the quality of your writing.
