Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response is incomplete, as it cuts off abruptly mid-sentence while describing the trends. While the introduction and overview are well-written and identify key features, the failure to complete the description of the data significantly impacts the task achievement. You have successfully identified the main trends for the fines and fatalities, but because the report is unfinished, you have not fully addressed all parts of the task. To improve, ensure you allocate enough time to complete the description of all data points provided in the graphs and tables, ensuring a balanced report that covers all aspects of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response shows a clear logical structure in the opening paragraphs. You have used an effective overview that highlights the main trends, and the paragraphing is appropriate. Cohesive devices such as 'whereas' and 'further citing that' are used correctly to link ideas. However, because the text ends prematurely, the overall progression is interrupted. To reach a higher band, ensure that your writing is fully developed and that the logical flow is maintained until the final conclusion or summary statement.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary, using terms like 'upward trajectory', 'fluctuating trend', 'moto-vehicular', and 'paramount'. These choices are precise and appropriate for an academic report. There are no significant spelling errors, and your word choice is generally sophisticated. To improve, focus on maintaining this level of lexical variety throughout the entire response, ensuring that you do not repeat simple structures when describing the data in the latter half of the report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The grammar is generally accurate, with a good mix of complex sentence structures, such as the use of subordinate clauses in the introduction and overview. You have demonstrated control over tense and subject-verb agreement. There are no major grammatical errors in the text provided. To achieve a higher score, continue to incorporate a wider variety of complex structures, such as passive voice or conditional forms, while ensuring that your sentences remain error-free and clearly punctuated.
