Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main trends in the graphs, but the analysis is often inaccurate or confusing. For example, you state that fines increased by 50% each year, which is not clearly supported by the data provided. Furthermore, the description of the second graph regarding road fatalities is difficult to follow and contains contradictory statements, such as claiming the number of accidents decreased and then increased within the same period. To improve, focus on identifying the most significant trends—such as the overall upward trend in fines versus the fluctuating or declining trend in fatalities—rather than listing year-by-year data points, which often leads to confusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression of ideas is frequently interrupted by unclear referencing and awkward transitions. Phrases like 'in graph one it shown' and 'in graph second it repressed' are mechanically used and do not effectively guide the reader through the data. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inaccurate, making the relationship between the two graphs and the overall narrative difficult to follow. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence builds logically on the previous one will significantly enhance the clarity of your report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'increased' or 'number'. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'repressed' instead of 'represented' and 'starting of speed camaras' instead of 'introduction of speed cameras'. These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding of the data. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable', or 'declined', and ensure that you use these terms in the correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('the fine was increased'), incorrect tense usage, and missing articles. Sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors that make the meaning unclear, such as 'after 5 to 6 it speed of by 100%'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, which affects the flow of the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency before attempting more complex structures.
