Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have addressed the main features of the graphs and the survey results, but the response lacks a clear overview. While you mention an 'increasing trend' for fines, you do not provide a summary of the relationship between the two variables or the key survey findings. The data description is somewhat mechanical and lacks precision; for instance, stating that accidents 'stayed consistent' is vague when the data shows specific fluctuations. To improve, ensure you highlight the most significant trends and contrasts, such as the inverse relationship between the rise in fines and the relatively stable fatality rates, and integrate the survey data more effectively into the overall narrative.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Furthermore', but they are occasionally used in a way that does not logically connect the sentences. The transition between the graph data and the survey results is abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words to create a smoother flow between sentences and paragraphs, and ensure that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus rather than just listing data points.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on basic verbs like 'increased' and 'stayed', and there are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'road accidents fatalities' (which is redundant; 'road fatalities' or 'accident deaths' would be better) and 'had a view' (which should be 'held the view'). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to trends and data analysis, such as 'surged', 'remained stable', or 'a significant proportion of respondents'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. For example, 'Fines has' should be 'Fines have', and 'eight-years' should not be hyphenated in this context. Additionally, there are issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement, such as 'the road accidents were nearly same'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to lower the score. Focus on proofreading for basic agreement and article usage to ensure your writing is more accurate.
