The tables show the results of a survey on people's opinions on speed cameras.
Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.
SPEED CAMERA FINES and ROAD ACCIDENT FATALITIES
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The line graph delineates the number of Britain drivers who have been caught driving too fats by speed cameras.
Overall, the bar graph represents the number of Britain drivers who have been caught driving too fast on road cameras in eight years. The first graph represents the fine of speed cameras which rises from 200,000 to 1600,000 in just eight years. There is a high increase in this graph as compared to others. Whereas, in road accident fatalities the number of accident fatalities fluctuated by time in all eight years.
However, the line graph is based on five different graphs which represents different data according to information. In last three graphs there is a suggestion of people who think speed cameras can reduce road accidents, main reason of road accidents and the reason of speed cameras.
In third line graph about 37 percent people agree with this decision that speed cameras can reduce road accidents. Meanwhile 60 percent answer in NO.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to adequately address the task. While it mentions the line graph and the survey tables, it does not provide a clear overview or accurately report the key features of the data. The description of the trends is confusing, particularly the claim that the line graph is based on 'five different graphs,' which is inaccurate. Furthermore, the report lacks a clear summary of the survey results, focusing only on one specific percentage rather than synthesizing the information provided in the tables. The response is largely descriptive of the task itself rather than the data, leading to a failure to highlight significant trends or comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a logical progression of ideas. Paragraphing is present but ineffective, as the content within the paragraphs is disjointed and repetitive. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical and often incorrect manner, such as the misuse of 'Whereas' and 'However' to connect unrelated points. The referencing is unclear, particularly when the writer refers to 'the last three graphs' or 'the third line graph,' which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the intended meaning. The overall structure does not facilitate a clear flow of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several instances of inaccurate word choice, such as 'fine of speed cameras' instead of 'number of fines' or 'number of road accident fatalities.' The phrase 'driving too fats' contains a spelling error. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the data with precision, and the student relies on basic, often incorrect terminology to describe the visual information. There is little evidence of an attempt to use less common lexical items or precise academic collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'the bar graph represents... which rises' (referring to the graph rather than the data) and '37 percent people agree.' Sentence structures are simple and often awkward, such as 'The line graph delineates the number of Britain drivers.' Punctuation is generally functional, but the lack of complex sentence structures and the presence of persistent errors in basic grammar limit the score in this criterion.
