Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover the data provided, but the presentation is confusing and inaccurate. While you identify the two main trends (fines increasing and fatalities fluctuating), the data points cited are frequently incorrect or contradictory. For example, you state that fines reached 200,000 in the second year, but the graph shows a different progression. Furthermore, the report fails to mention the survey tables entirely, which is a key part of the prompt. To improve, ensure you accurately transcribe data from the charts and include all components of the task. The summary is also somewhat unclear, making it difficult for the reader to grasp the overall trends without referring back to the source material.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by awkward phrasing and confusing transitions. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Meanwhile' and 'Furthermore', they are often used to connect ideas that are not clearly linked or are factually disjointed. The progression of information is difficult to follow, particularly in the third and fourth paragraphs where the data points are presented in a jumbled manner. To improve, focus on grouping related data logically and using clearer signposting to guide the reader through the trends. Ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, such as one for fines and one for fatalities, rather than mixing them inconsistently.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often inappropriate for an academic report. Phrases like 'traffic challan', 'society population', and 'passed by society people' are either non-standard or confusing in this context. You rely on repetitive structures and struggle to use precise terminology to describe the trends. While you attempt to use some descriptive words, the lack of precision in word choice often obscures the meaning. To improve, focus on learning standard academic collocations for describing graphs, such as 'upward trend', 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'reached a peak'. Avoid informal or non-standard phrasing to ensure your report sounds professional and objective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that impede clarity. Issues include incorrect verb tenses, subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'digits above 3,000 were died'), and awkward sentence structures. The use of complex sentences is attempted, but they are often faulty, leading to confusion. For instance, 'the number of deaths, which are resulted by that act' is grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures before attempting more complex ones. Pay close attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice, which is essential for describing data. Proofreading for basic errors in tense and word order will significantly improve your score.
