Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to address all parts of the task. While you describe the trends for speed camera fines and road accident fatalities, you completely ignored the survey data provided in the tables. In IELTS Academic Task 1, you must synthesize all provided information. Furthermore, the response is repetitive, as you essentially wrote the same report twice. The data points are also inconsistent; for example, you mention 600,000 in one paragraph and 60,000 in another for the same year. To improve, ensure you include all visual elements and proofread to ensure data accuracy.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a logical structure because the entire text is repeated. This repetition creates a confusing reading experience. While you use some basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Moving towards', the overall organization is severely compromised by the redundant content. Paragraphing is present, but because the second half of the essay is a near-verbatim copy of the first, it does not contribute to a clear progression of ideas. You need to focus on presenting unique information in each paragraph and avoiding unnecessary repetition.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic verbs like 'increased', 'grow', and 'fell'. There are also frequent spelling errors such as 'overspeading', 'prespective', 'gentaly', 'incresed', 'noticibaly', and 'mirror' (likely meant 'minor'). These errors occasionally make it difficult to follow the intended meaning. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'surged', 'plummeted', or 'remained stable', and ensure you check your spelling carefully before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Speed camera fines was', 'Road accident fatalities had almost remains') and article usage (e.g., 'in 1 year', 'in 4 year'). The sentence structures are simple and often lack correct punctuation, such as unnecessary commas after 'depicts' and 'seen that'. While you attempt some complex sentences, the high frequency of basic errors in tense and agreement hinders clarity. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures.
