Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the task by describing the trends in speed camera fines and road fatalities. However, the report is incomplete as it completely ignores the survey tables provided in the prompt. To achieve a higher band, all parts of the task must be addressed. The description of the graphs is also somewhat imprecise; for example, referring to the number of drivers as 'population' is inaccurate. While the main trends are identified, the lack of data integration from the tables and the imprecise terminology limit the score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In overview ,over a year' and 'As compare to other years'. The logical progression is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, making some sentences difficult to follow. While there is a basic attempt at linking ideas, the flow is not always smooth, and the referencing between the data points and the commentary could be more clearly managed to improve the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and contains several inaccuracies that impede clarity. For instance, the student uses 'bought driving rapidly' instead of 'caught speeding' and 'inclination' instead of 'increase'. The word 'population' is used incorrectly to refer to the number of drivers or accident victims. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of precision and the reliance on basic or misused terms prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary related to data description is essential.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with articles ('in first year'), prepositions, and verb forms ('which continuous to increase'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces missing before commas. While some complex structures are attempted, they are often faulty, such as 'Since it has reached the 8 year rapid increment is seen'. These errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, though the overall message remains discernible.
