Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task, including the graphs and the survey tables. You have successfully identified the key trends, such as the fluctuation in fatalities and the rise in fines. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For example, you mention the 60% and 32% figures but do not fully synthesize how these relate to the overall trend of rising fines versus static fatalities. To reach a higher band, ensure that you not only report the data points but also provide a more cohesive comparison between the visual data and the survey results, ensuring all figures are accurately represented without minor inaccuracies in interpretation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall,' 'However,' and 'On the other hand.' However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions are missing or awkward, such as 'It clearly seen that. public’s thought regarding with speed cameras.' The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, which impacts the overall progression. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated,' 'fatalities,' and 'redundant.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'materialistic purposes' (likely meaning 'revenue-generating purposes') and 'voter' (when referring to survey respondents). There are also minor spelling and grammatical slips, such as 'installment' instead of 'installation' and 'fell' instead of 'felt.' To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct context to convey your meaning accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'The charts illustrates' (subject-verb agreement), 'numbers of people who killed' (passive voice error), and 'It clearly seen that.' Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with sentence fragments and unnecessary periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, correct passive voice construction, and punctuation will help improve your accuracy.
