Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by describing the trends in the graphs and the survey results. However, the reporting of data is sometimes inaccurate or confusing. For instance, stating that fines reached '1000000' is not clearly supported by the visual data, and the description of the accident trends is somewhat muddled. While the key features are identified, the overview is slightly simplistic. To improve, ensure that data points are cited with greater precision and that the comparison between the two graphs is more analytical rather than just a list of figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or awkward, such as 'At the glance' and 'Moving ahead'. Some sentences are disjointed, and the transition between the graph data and the survey data is abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making the flow of information feel somewhat choppy. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would significantly enhance the logical progression of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range expected at higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'data has been calibrated in numbers' and 'recorded the highest value'. The student relies on basic verbs like 'show' and 'increase' repeatedly. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and occasional misuse of terminology (e.g., 'calibrated') limits the score. Incorporating more topic-specific vocabulary related to trends and statistics would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles ('in first year', 'in next 5 years'), subject-verb agreement issues ('graph show', 'table show'), and incorrect preposition usage. The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with some attempts at complex sentences that are often marred by punctuation or structural errors. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and detract from the overall quality of the writing.
