Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all parts of the task, including the line graphs and the survey table. However, the reporting of data is often inaccurate or confusing. For example, stating '6 from 8 year the its mitigate boost rapidly' is unclear and does not accurately describe the trend. The overview is present but lacks a clear synthesis of the relationship between the two graphs. While the main features are identified, the lack of precision in describing the data points and the trends hinders the overall clarity of the report. To improve, ensure that data points are cited accurately and that trends are described using standard academic terminology.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. Phrases like 'At a fleeting glance' and 'Moving forther' are used incorrectly or sound unnatural in an academic context. The use of cohesive devices is often repetitive or misused, making the flow of information feel disjointed. While the paragraphing helps the reader follow the structure, the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs significant improvement to ensure that ideas connect logically and smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'mitigate boost' and 'proportion's people'. The student relies on basic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'grow slowly' or 'increase slightly', which are acceptable but lack the sophistication required for higher bands. Furthermore, there are issues with collocation and word forms, such as 'the number of people road accident'. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary for data description and improving the accuracy of word usage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('the given line graph illustrate'), tense usage ('the number of road accident changed'), and sentence structure ('In the eight year, 1,600,000 people made up'). While the student attempts some complex structures, they are often faulty or incomplete. The punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and sentence boundaries. A focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of the writing.
