The graphs below show the number of drivers in Britain who have been caught driving too fast by speed cameras placed on roads, and the number of people killed in road accidents, over an eight-year period since the introduction of speed cameras. The tables show the results of a survey on people's opinions on speed cameras.

Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.

SPEED CAMERA FINES and ROAD ACCIDENT FATALITIES

The two line graphs compare the number of drivers caught speeding by speed cameras and road accident fatalities over an eight-year period, while the tables show public opinions about speed cameras.

Overall, the number of drivers caught speeding increased dramatically, whereas road accident fatalities fluctuated slightly. Most people believed that there were too many speed cameras and that their main purpose was to raise revenue.

In the first year, around 200,000 drivers were caught speeding. This figure rose steadily to 600,000 in year 5, before increasing sharply to 800,000 in year 6, 1.2 million in year 7 and 1.6 million in the final year. In contrast, road fatalities remained relatively stable, fluctuating between approximately 3,000 and 3,400 throughout the period.

Regarding the survey results, 60% of respondents believed that speed cameras did not reduce accidents, compared with 32% who thought they did. Moreover, 71% considered raising revenue to be the main reason for installing cameras, while only 26% chose improving road safety.
