Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task, including the line graphs and the survey tables. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you correctly identify the overall trends, such as the increase in fines and the consistency of fatalities, you could improve by providing more specific data points to support your descriptions. For example, mentioning the specific figures at the start and end of the period for the fines would strengthen the report. Additionally, the survey data is presented as a list of percentages without comparing them or grouping them logically, which limits the depth of your analysis. To reach a higher band, ensure you highlight key features and make comparisons rather than just listing the data.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and occasionally mechanical. For instance, the word 'whereas' is used at the start of multiple sentences, which disrupts the flow. The transition between the line graph data and the survey table data is abrupt. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your ideas more naturally. Ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus and that the progression of information is logical throughout the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points of the task. Words like 'drastically', 'consistent', and 'revenue' are used appropriately. However, there are some spelling errors, such as 'Inititally' and 'palyed', which detract from the overall quality. Additionally, some phrasing is slightly awkward, such as 'number of road accidents fatalities', which should be 'number of road accident fatalities'. To improve, focus on accuracy in spelling and collocation. Incorporating more precise academic vocabulary related to trends and data interpretation would also help elevate your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors. For example, 'the number of fines have drastically increased' should be 'has' (subject-verb agreement with 'number'). There are also punctuation issues, such as the unnecessary semicolon in 'opinion; 60%'. The sentence '71% people think' is missing a determiner, such as '71% of people'. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Proofreading for these common errors will significantly improve your accuracy.
