Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers all parts of the task, including the graphs and the two survey tables. However, the information is presented in a somewhat disjointed manner, and there are significant inaccuracies in the interpretation of the data. For instance, the student refers to 'rupees' instead of the currency implied by the context of Britain (pounds), and the description of the survey data is confusing, with contradictory figures provided in the final paragraph (e.g., 32% vs 62% for similar categories). While the main trends are identified, the lack of precision and the inclusion of incorrect units prevent a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is often mechanical and lacks logical flow. Cohesive devices are used, but they are frequently misused or repetitive (e.g., 'Further more', 'In first year', 'in last people'). The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track which part of the data is being discussed. The transition between the description of the graphs and the survey tables is abrupt, and the overall organization lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often inappropriate for an academic report. There are frequent errors in word choice, such as 'speedly' instead of 'at high speeds', 'challane' (a non-standard term), and 'irrelivant' instead of 'irrelevant'. The student struggles to use precise terminology to describe trends, relying on basic phrases like 'up and down' or 'at the top'. Spelling errors are frequent (e.g., 'anb', 'pulic', 'servey', 'govrer ments'), which occasionally impedes the reader's understanding of the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in grammatical errors. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The public servey show', 'people... thought bit as a safty measure'), incorrect preposition usage, and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with erratic spacing and misuse of commas. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar structures significantly limits the range and accuracy of the writing.
